Concrete Matter redefines aesthetic value of industrial structures. Freeway bridges, concrete walls, and industrial structures are meant to be functional structures, are optimized as a result of their function and are transformed into grandiose heroic endeavors. The aesthetic standard of the human experience when condensed as a common physical form is as ambiguous as the definition of the term "aesthetics". However, the common experience of beauty falls into personal vision and the experience of everyday function. As rationally as it can get lost into mundane familiarities it can simultaneously gain universal praise. Functionality, often times measured as a tool to every-day routine goes unappreciated. There is still an aesthetic common ground within those structures and that the general public has yet to understand its misconstrued presence. These images explore the aesthetics of the urban structures that are centered solely on their functions, which would otherwise only be viewed as expedient devices.
